Effective date: July 27, 2026
MetaSort is a Mac app that organizes your photos and videos into dated folders on your own computer. This policy explains what MetaSort does — and does not — do with your information. The short version: MetaSort collects no data about you, and nothing you open in MetaSort ever leaves your Mac.
The short version
- MetaSort does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information.
- No user accounts, ads, analytics, or third-party tracking.
- No network connections of any kind — it works entirely offline.
- Your photos, videos, and files are read only on your Mac, solely to organize them at your request.
Information we collect
None. MetaSort does not collect any personal data. There is no sign-up, no login, and no profile. We have no servers that receive information from the app, because the app does not send any.
How MetaSort uses your files
To do its job, MetaSort reads files you explicitly point it at, and devices you connect:
- Folders you select. When you choose a source or destination folder, MetaSort reads the photos, videos, and audio files inside it to determine each file’s capture date (from EXIF and media metadata) and to copy, move, or rename them as you direct.
- Connected cameras and devices. When you use the Camera tab, MetaSort reads the photos and videos on a camera, iPhone, or memory card you connect over USB so it can list and import them. It imports only the files you choose.
All of this happens locally on your Mac. MetaSort does not upload, back up, or share these files, and it does not read files you have not selected.
MetaSort does not access or modify your macOS or iOS Photos library. It works with files in the folders and on the devices you choose.
Network use
MetaSort does not connect to the internet. It contains no advertising, no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, and no third-party components that transmit data.
Data sharing
Because MetaSort collects no data, there is nothing to share, sell, or disclose to third parties.
Data retention
MetaSort keeps no personal data. Any folder locations or preferences you set are stored only in the app’s own settings on your Mac and can be removed by resetting the app’s preferences or deleting the app.
Children’s privacy
MetaSort does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Your rights
Since MetaSort holds no personal data about you, there is nothing to access, correct, or delete on our end. You remain in full control of your files on your own computer at all times.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a revised effective date. Material changes will be reflected in a new app release where appropriate.
